The Paul W. Bryant Museum will host honorary captains Ken Roberts and Bobby Smith on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 10-11:00 a.m. Both captains will be available for autographs. Roberts is a three-year letter winner who played both offense and defense under Coaches J.B. Whitworth and Paul Bryant. Roberts excelled on defense, recovering two fumbles during the 1958 season and helping the Tide to its first winning season in five years. Smith was a two-way player at quarterback and defensive back. Smith lettered in ‘56, ’57 and ‘58. During his sophomore and junior years, he was the Crimson Tide’s leading passer, then under the direction of J.B. “Ears” Whitworth. He was a captain on Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant’s first team in 1958.
