Position Title: Heating Ventilation and Air Cooling (HVAC) Apprentice

Position Grade: Class A-1 to Class A-4
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Summary of Duties:
This position will also be highly encouraged to register for the electrical program with Skill Trades of West Alabama. This position assists HVAC service technicians, installers, sheet metal shop with installation and repair of residential and commercial plumbing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Transport various items (e.g., tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
- Coordinate with supervisor and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
- Diagnose problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning / refrigeration systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and replacement needs.
- Install heating/air conditioning/refrigeration equipment and systems (e.g. coils, pumps, controls, electric motors, etc.) for the purpose of providing comfort inside facilities.
- Maintain tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED).
- Knowledge of residential and commercial codes and proper application; knowledge of proper HVAC safety preferred but not required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid Driver’s License to include active liability insurance.
- Successful completion of required criminal record and motor vehicle record background checks.
- Ability to pass a drug screening.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
